Pantone is pleased to announce PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise, an inviting, luminous hue, as the Color of the Year for 2010. Combining the serene quelities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.

In many cultures, Turquoise is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that to many people, Turquoise represents an escape, taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting – even if it is only a fantasy.

Whether envisioned as a tranquil ocean surrounding a tropical island or a protective stone warding off evil spirits, Turquoise is a color that most people respond to positively. It is universally flattering, has appeal for men and women, and translates easily to fashion and interiors. With both warm and cool undertones, Turquoise pairs nicely with any other color in the spectrum. Turquoise adds a splash of excitement to neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, livens up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens.

Inside Allure Magazine you can get 37 new hair ideas for 2010. Take a look to see all the hairstyles you will need for the new year. Here some of them:

  1. Create a romantic chignon. A rumpled texture and casual pinning make the standard bun look sexier and more youthful. Use a large curling iron to create loose waves (if your hair is naturally wavy, let ir air-dry). Gather your hair loosely at the nape and twist it around just once so the bun drapes low. Then, instead of wrapping it with an elastic, stick long bobby pins into the bun haphazardly to secure it, wich keeps the style from becoming too tight.
  2. Get big, bouncy curls. Apply mousse throughout damp hair, followed a little serum on the ends, then blow-dry without a brush. Use a one-inch curling iron to roll hair sections, from the ends to the scalp, and hold each there for a second. After sliding out the iron, pin the curls to the head. When they’ve cooled, release the curls and fluff them with a brush.
  3. Tie on a colourful scarf. It’s the fastest solution to a bad hair day. Choose a square, printed scarf (solid colors tend to look like a bandage) and fold it in half diagonally to make a triangle. Tie it over the top of your hair and knot it in back. The front should rest no more than an inch down over your hairline.
  4. Create a rounded blowout. With a slinky dress, this is still a seductive look for shoulder-length hair. Blow-dry hair straight with a round brush, then make a deep side part. Wind the ends around large hot rollers and leave them in until they’ve cooled. After taking out the curlers, gently brush through the ends, then rub a drop or two of shine serum between your palms and smooth them over your hair.
  5. Bump up your crown. A smidgen of eight at your crown adds a whole lot of sex appeal. For the classic Brigitte Bardot look, blow-dry hair with a round brush, then set it in hot rollers to amp up the volume. After taking out the rollers, part hair in the middle, then lightly tease the underside of the crown with a fine-tooth comb to give it a bit of lift. Skim a paddle brush over the surface of your crown to smooth any fuzz.
  6. Move to the side. What a difference an inch makes. By placing the classic ballerina bun slightly askew, the style suddenly loks fresh and young. Just be sure to pin it low on the neck and no more than an inch or two off-center.
  7. Rise up. A high ponytail never goes out of style. But to ensure that frizz and flyaways aren’t part of the picture, work a pea-size drop of smoothing lotion into your roots and hairline before blow-drying. Brush the hair back and secure it just below your crown. To make the tail gleam, rub a drop of shine serum between your palms, then run then over the tail from base to ends.
  8. Decorate your updo. A jeweled barrete dresses up hair that’s been gathered back. Fasten the clip just above a high bun or knot, slightly off center at the crown. With a low chignon, place the clip inthe hair just above the bun – or, if the barrette is delicate, stick it near the front of your head, lining it up above the arch of one eyebrow.
  9. Create major volume. Body building is a cinch with these steps: 1. Apply a voluminizing mousse throughout damp hair; 2. Remove the nozzle from your dryer. Flip your head upside down, and blow-dry while running a vent brush through hair; 3. When hair is almost dry, flip your head up and finish drying with a medium-size round brush; 4. Working in small sections, lift your hair off your scalp with your fingers as you ain the dryer, set on cool, at your roots – this roughs up the cuticle to add volume. Do this all around your head, then lightly smooth hair with a brush.
  10. Tease your ponytail. Fatten up a puny ponytail by using a paddle brush to tease the underside of a low or middle-of-the-head tail with a few broad strokes – not short quick ones, wich can compact the hair too tightly and create a puffball. Skim the brush over the top of the tail to smooth it, then mist with hair spray.

Golden Globes 2010

19 / January / 2010Leave a comment

It’s one of the most long-awaited nights of the year, when the top celebs from film and tv appear on one of the most coverted red carpets. This year it rained on Beverly Hills, but the umbrellas only added to the glamour of the occasion.

After numerous years of dressing celebrities, Tom Ford walked up the red carpet as a film director, wearing one of his own tuxedos. He was accompanied by actress Julianne Moore, who wore an elegant Balenciaga number.

This year, the actors wanted to look really striking. As never, the men went for classically elegant looks. Gerard Butler wore Dolce & Gabbana, as did Chace Crawford, our favorite Gossip Boy, while John Krasinski, the nice guy from The Office, went for Prada. His partner, Emily Blunt, looked radiant in a Dolce & Gabbana dress, while Sam Worthington sported Burberry’s British elegance.

But the red carpet is mostlu about the girls. And this year there was lots of classic glamour and nude and lilac tones. Drew Barrymore wore a champagne colored Atelier Versace number, while Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas was in D&G violet tones.

January Jones wore an glamorous, really feminine Lanvin dress, while Penélope Cruz was elegant and austere in another Armani Privé creation. Sandra Bullock looked radiant in a violet Bottega Veneta dress.

Cameron Diaz felt that the rainy day needed a touch of color, so she wore a vibrant red dress designed by Alexander McQueen.

Jennifer Aniston showed off her legs in an austere Valentino Couture dress, which she teamed with Versace shoes.

As expected, Marion Cotillard wore a dress designed by Christian Dior with Jimmy Choo sandals, and she looked as innately elegant as ever. Jennifer Garner showed off her figure with an Atelier Versace number, as did Christina Aguilera.

The Nina Ricci brand dressed Nicole Kidman, and Chloe Sevigny brought us a lilac Valentino dress full of frills.

Mariah Carey wore an extremely low-cut Herve Leger dress, while Marchesa, a red carpet classic, was spotted on the lovely Kate Hudson.

Heidi Klum wore a bright Cavalli dress, and Diane Krueger was pure elegance and fantasy in Chanel jewelery and a Christian Lacroix dress.

This month, in Glamour Magazine, it is given a sort of keys to shopping more and chic. As they say, “these times invite to be more reflexive than compulsive, but it doesn’t mean to live in total austerity. Intelligent Shopping!” We wanted to share some of the most important keys with you. Here you have:

1. Inventory, estimate, and credit card!

  • Classify your wardrobe clothes and ask yourself what is important for you to preserve and what clothes suit you, by brands or silhouette. Identify necessities.
  • Time to estimate. Middle woman shoudn’t spend more than 5% of earnings in fashion and beauty. Forget the credit and live under your possibilities.
  • Make essentials (Little Black Dress, lampshade skirt, jacket, black eyeliner…) Elements you will allways need and which help you to see life easier without renounce style or glam.
  • And in case you find something you love and which is out of budget, make a “unforeseen expenses fund”. That untouchable money you could save little by little for inalienable whim.

2. Invest in your basic wardrobe

  • Look for quality basic clothes which last through time.
  • A coat, a print dress, a white shirt, a cachemir sweater or masculine shoes are essential to make your life easy.
  • Be faithful to your style and don’t be easily influenced by others style.

3. Look for the coolest tendency in low-priced version

  • Studs, shoulder pads and high boots are in fashion today but, who knows about tomorrow? Don’t spend all your budget in last fashion.
  • Be continence. No-one’s forcing you to buy all the shop.

4. Impulsive shopping with remorse, never!

  • Don’t go shopping in a bad mood, or try to go with a friend who help you to be in a good mood.
  • If you are not sure, go out of the shop and take breath.
  • In sales returns are not accepted. Bear it in mind!
  • If you fall down, you can always sell it in a second-hand shop.

Finishing the year, it is time to evaluate, and the spring-summer fashion shows for 2010 have set very high standards. During the last years, designers started to add audiovisuals, live sound or they made a own set to transmit their particular univers.

In last Fashion Week, there were some of the designer who bet on live concert. Lily Allen‘s for Chanel wasn’t specially surprising, but each detail was so meticulous that it has been a clasic.

Another tactic to get a powerful show was to have a premier of new hits the public was waiting for in a long time. Can you think in Alexander Mcqueen collection without Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance“? Or Róisín Murphy without Victor & Rolf‘s bulky dress? We knew that music and fashion live together, but now the performance factor is joining them. Sonia Rykiel is an example; the most profitable collaboration with H&M was a big event and the fashion show finished as a “Cabaret Parisien” big party.

We are eager to know what surprises have the new fashion shows in store for us. Here you have the top 5 of this year…
